All Points West Music Festival

its the east coast version of Coachella!!! I bought my ticket for Sunday Aug 02's show today and im so pumped!!! I really want to see Vampire Weekend but its gonna have to wait til they come back on tour. Sundays lineup is sick!! Coldplay, MGMT, Lykke Li, The Gaslight Anthem, silversun pickups, we are scientists and more!!!

The Darker the Room, The Brighter the Match

New york city nights

with all its lights
You'd think it'd be so splendor and bright
Yet sadly there's so much darkness in sight

End of Week 1 at NY Daily News

I decided i wont update by day, but by week in regards to my internship. Friday i finally got to go out and shoot a "man on the street" i covered the mayhem the release of the new iphone at the huge apple store on 5th ave. It was fun and i shot around there for about 2 1/2 hours. I than went back to the office and edited the video. it was crunchtime but i finished and its up on the homepage of the NY Daily News' website. Hopefully my skills were up to par and i am given more opportunities to do more editing and shooting!

I also saw The Proposal which was cute, i like sandra bullock but many of the scenes i felt were stolen from one of my favorite movies The Devil Wears Prada. Even still, i suppose there arent any truly real new fresh ideas in storytelling which just means directors need to be more creative when "redoing" similar ideas in storytelling. The movie still made me laugh and still made my eyes widen every time Ryan Reynolds appeared on screen.

Today i have an appointment with a personal trainer, we're gonna do some boxing which should be fun. Hopefully my body is up for it, im feeling much better than last week, but i am not quite fully recovered from this "flare". Later, my aunt and i are getting a massage! Im excited for that i look forward to it.

All in all im enjoying it here in NYC. Being here also has my creative juices flowing intensely, and i continue to be inspired day by day and i am doing a lot of writing! So thats always fun, unfortunately its raining here so i haven't had the chance to go out and shoot some stills!!! Bummed about that, but im sure the rain will clear out sooner or later.

Day 3 @ DailyNews

Day 3 and im itching for the weekend! I havent been able to photograph and explore the city yet and its killing me...funny, i had a daily news email i didnt even know about and had to go through thousands of loops to find out the password. Again, im feeling better today but i was thinking yesterday as i woke and started feeling a routine being created "When do i get to rest? What day is it...tuesday!? You mean i have to wait all the way until saturday to have free time!" and i realized, i DO NOT want an office job! Lucky for me, the field im getting into isnt going to be that way, thank God. How those people do it, i have no idea, but i wont be able to, no way....not eva. HA. Anyway im kinda bored at the Daily News, hopefully things will get exciting somehow someway, until than ill keep up the diligence lol. I do admit though, i feel pretty cool swiping my NY Daily News badge to enter the building and all these rooms HA!

Day 1 @ Daily News

Today was my first day. Ive been really sick and feeling the worst symptoms. It was getting worse. Funny thing is the hour i stepped into the office and got familiar i felt better! it relaxed and excited me and i hope to feel better by the end of this week. Today was a slow day in the office, i got familiar with the people, sat in on a meeting, got familiar with some of the equipment and daily routines of those in the video department. Im excited and hope to learn a lot of useful things at this job. If not, i hope to learn a lot about the city and hope to express myself creatively to the max while out here! I plan on working on my photography and writing a lot more while im isolated from everyone im familiar with! I want to learn photoshop a lot more and really learn advanced techniques in photography. To start off I learned HDR and here is a photo i took of the view outside my window in my apartment (excuse the watermark im demo-ing an HDR software).

ive arrived. im very tired so i don't have much to say right now except that i am very upset about the fact that there arent any Red Vines licorice here in the city! And me feeling bad for the lady next to me who still had an 8 hour flight to Paris, i gave her ALL my redvines! thinking i could get some here. Enough about that. Ill edit this post when i have more energy.

Ahh

Last night i had a dream. And in it my aunt told me her apartment was too small and that she thought it would be better if i didnt move in with her this summer in NY. LOL!! Two days before i leave for NYC and im having these kind of anxiety issues haha. Great.

Fasting

Fasting is beautiful. I fasted yesterday to grow closer to God among other things. One day without eating or drinking...just water, goes a long way. I'd been feeling sick, not really sick just my muscles were very sore when i would wake up. I felt like a 65 year old woman who ran a marathon every morning and night! This had been occurring for weeks. I went to the doctor but they are unsure of what the problem is. Instead of leaning on mans knowledge for hope and wisdom, i decided to look to God for healing! So i fasted just to get close to Him and lean on Him. He decided to bless me because this morning when i awoke i felt great! My hands, shoulders, feet, and other muscles weren't as sore as they have been. I could hardly notice the pain. He didnt just physically bless me, but i have grown spiritual as well and much closer to God. Fasting is great and God is so good.

Renacer

Just got back from the band Renacer's show. It is a group of young christian guys including my friends Franky, Nick and Jony using the talents God gave them to glorify Him to the max! They all have major talent. If you like spanish rock, i highly recommend you checking out this band Renacer , they are an up and coming christian rock band and they are awesome!! Heres a link to their myspace, check em out! There EP should be out this summer. Some young folks gave their life to Christ today, so praise God for that.
